The merger of VAMK library with Tritonia draws closer
- Wolffintie library unit moves to Tritonia in November

A joint library for all institutions of higher education in Vaasa will be implemented on 1 January, 2010 as the libraries of VAMK University of Applied Sciences and Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa become part of the Tritonia Academic Library. Tritonia will then serve students and staff at five different organizations: University of Vaasa, Åbo Akademi University, Hanken School of Economics, VAMK University of Applied Sciences, and Novia University of Applied Sciences.

In the first phase of the merger, a joint library for the fields of technology and social studies will be realized. Collections of VAMK and Novia library units currently located in Wolffintie will be transferred to Tritonia in November. This will cause changes and breaks in the library services.

What will change?

Wolffintie Library
The Wolffintie library unit at VAMK will be closed down. The last opening day is Thursday 12 November 2009. The collections will be transferred to the Tritonia Academic Library (Yliopistonranta 7), and are available for loan in Tritonia from Monday 23 November. Tritonia is closed during the relocation work 17-20 November.

Raastuvankatu Library
The Raastuvankatu library unit will be closed Tue-Fri 17-20 November 2009. Normal opening hours will resume on Monday 23 November.

From EWA to TRIA
The online catalogues of VAMK and Novia libraries (EWA and Syhlva), along with customer registries, will be merged with Tritonia's TRIA database. Because of this there will be a service break in the library catalogues 17-22 November. There will be no due dates for borrowed items during the break. A new, joint library catalogue TRIA (http://tria.linneanet.fi/) will be opened on Monday 23 November. From this day on, the libraries will have the same loan periods and delay charges.

Please be prepared for the service breaks - it is advisable to borrow the required library material on time! More information about the practical details related to the merger will follow as the relocation of the Wolffintie library unit approaches.
