This week, on Thursday 6 May and Friday 7 May, a low-threshold corona testing point will be set up from 09:00 – 11:30 in the main car park of the University of Vaasa, Wolffintie 34, Palosaari. A test is free of charge and does not require an appointment. Even those who are asymptomatic can take the test.

The international audit team interviewed over hundred students, representatives of stakeholders and working life as well as VAMK’s staff over a video link. A lot has been learnt during the long process.

We will return to the practices that preceded the March closure. Simulation lessons, exams and other necessary teaching can be arranged from March 29th on campus.

All teaching, including simulations, laboratory work and exams are carried out online. Week 9 is a week of independent study. Administrative and support staff will also switch to telecommuting during the closure.

At VAMK, teaching in the spring semester is organized as distance teaching, necessary contact teaching is allowed. Administrative staff will continue with the rotation model. Spring graduations will be held remotely.

Vaasa University of Applied Sciences will obtain valuable information on the strengths, good practices and enhancement areas in its activities. The audit team will interview the staff and students from various degree programmes, units as well as representatives of stakeholders.

Universities of applied sciences (UAS) will select students for education starting next autumn in exceptional circumstances. Student admissions for the joint application process starting in March will be implemented through a certificate-based admission and an UAS entrance examination, which will be organised in exceptional circumstances due to the covid-19 pandemic. The exam will be arranged between 31 May and 9 June 2021 as a one-step in-person test in facilities designated by universities of applied sciences. The number of exam days has been increased to eight.
