You’re free to move here!

Scheduling breaks during lessons and even small movement breaks during lectures are an important part of both teachers’ and students’ well-being and endurance!

  • Let’s incorporate movement breaks and micro-breaks into lessons.
  • Remember to take small breaks between classes.
  • Let’s boldly try out the movement break equipment available in classrooms.

The “Energy to the Campus!” project was initiated in response to the needs identified during the health promotion review of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences learning environment (OTE). The project aims to enhance and promote the physical study environment, study ergonomics, movement breaks and a sense of community at VAMK. With project funding, movement break equipment has been purchased for classrooms and break areas across VAMK’s two campuses: the Alere building and Wolffintie.

The equipment acquired through the project, along with guidance and information on its use, encourages students and teaching staff to incorporate small movement breaks into lessons. The goal is to establish a culture of movement and regular breaks as part of VAMK’s learning environment. The OTE project is a collaboration between FSHS, VAMK and VAMOK.

Stretching exercises between lectures and meetings

Across the campus, you can easily find various exercise equipment in several locations for a quick stretching break. Available items include resistance bands, stress balls, sticks, exercise balls, tennis balls, and yoga rollers. Additionally, there is a pull-up bar in the lobby on the 2nd floor of the B-wing at Wolffintie 30.

The equipment is freely available for everyone to use. Please remember to return the movement break equipment to its place after use!

You can find the smaller items in plastic baskets on the tables, while sticks and other larger equipment are stored in black metal baskets.
