An odd year – people as a resource
An odd year. That was the year of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences in 2022. It was similar in many other organisations as well. In the middle of the complex world situation, our focus has been in the theme year of pedagogical development, sustainable growth and building a human-sized management culture.

Fruitful development year for pedagogy
In the theme year of pedagogical development 2022, the focus was on the development and planning of teaching skills. During the year, among other things, Master’s degree activities were developed and the VAMK Master School was launched, and the pedagogical program, vision and guidelines were formulated together.
VAMK’s successful pioneer year in international student recruitment
Investments were made in international student recruitment and its development during 2022. For example, agent cooperation was developed in selected target markets, mainly in Asia and the Middle East. In the joint application for international degrees in January 2022, the number of priority applicants was successfully increased by more than 60%. Furthermore Energy Technology degree in English was implemented and it received more than 1,500 applicants in the fall of 2022.
Highlights of the year
During the year, VAMK’s pedagogical program was formulated, an accessibility plan was written, and VAMK Master School was launched.
