Document Publicity Description
Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK) maintains a document publicity description for the information resources it manages and their intended use, in accordance with the Information Management Act (906/2019). The document publicity description is part of adhering to the principle of publicity. The purpose of the description is to facilitate making information requests to Vaasa University of Applied Sciences.
1. Instructions for Making an Information Request
Please specify your information request as precisely as possible to facilitate the retrieval of the document. Below, in connection with the information resources, we have described the types of information we process in our information resources. You can use search criteria such as the name of the case, project, or person, or the time of the case. Information requests should be sent electronically to the registry office at kirjaamo@vamk.fi.
The registry office will direct the information requests to the appropriate authority for a response. We will respond to the information request within two weeks. If the request concerns extensive document collections, we will respond within a month. The data materials are not available openly via a technical interface.
Requests for inspection, correction, and deletion of personal data should be directed to VAMK’s Data Protection Officer; instructions can be found on the Data Protection page.

2. Information Resources and Their Purposes
An information resource refers to the collection of data generated in the course of fulfilling the statutory duties and other activities of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences. Each information resource is described in terms of the data it contains. Some information resources include information that is confidential under the Publicity Act (621/1999).
Administrative Matters and Management
Guidance of administrative matters, planning, implementation and development of operations, decision-making and management, quality management, collaboration nationally, regionally, and among higher education institutions.
Human Resources Services
Recruitment, personnel and employment matters, payment of salaries and fees, professional development, occupational well-being, occupational safety, and cooperation.
Financial Management Services
Guidance of financial matters, financial planning and monitoring, taxation, accounting and payment transactions, financing and fundraising, asset management.
International Affairs Services
Planning and implementation of international cooperation and mobility of students and staff.
Information System Services
Development and guidance of information system services, installation, use and maintenance of information systems and hardware, data protection, and data security.
Marketing and Communication Services
Planning, implementation, and monitoring of marketing and both external and internal communication.
Real Estate Services and Security
Use, maintenance, upkeep, and rental of facilities, access control, general security, contingency planning, handling of disturbances and special situations, preparedness for exceptional circumstances.
Teaching and Learning Services
Planning and implementation of degree and non-degree education, practical implementation of teaching, student admissions, management of study rights, assessment and management of study achievements, awarding degrees.
Research, Development, and Innovation Services (RDI)
Guidance and development of RDI activities, planning and implementation of RDI projects, ethical conduct of research, research permits.
