Project description

The Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment will provide training to promote clean transition investments. Skills needs have been identified in areas such as environmental procedures and other green transition regulations, financial skills, strategic project interaction and investment decision making.

The PUHTI training topics include legislation governing environmental procedures for the clean transition, land-use planning and environmental impact assessment, application of environmental procedures and basics of water management. The target groups are companies and consultancies assisting companies in need of environmental procedures skills and public sector organisations implementing environmental procedures. The training will take place between 1 May 2025 and 31 December 2025.

The PUHTI project is a cooperation between Vaasa University of Applied Sciences and Turku University of Applied Sciences. The project is funded by the European Union’s Recovery and Restructuring Facility (RRF funding).

Goals

The aim of the project is to streamline the implementation of the green transition investments and to promote their acceptability. A key element of this objective is to increase the knowledge of operators on clean transition projects, their design and the application of new skills in the workplace on a project-by-project basis. Training will contribute to the skills of experts in clean transition projects to work effectively in land use planning and permit application processes for clean transition.

Results

The key outcome of the PUHTI project is part of a wider training package consisting of five stand-alone courses, totalling 10 credits:

  • Legislation governing environmental procedures for clean transition (2 credits)
  • Environmental impact assessment (2 credits)
  • Land use planning (2 credits)
  • Streamlining environmental permits and procedures (2 credits)
  • Fundamentals of water management (2 cr.)

The project will increase the knowledge of planning, environmental permits and water management required for clean transition projects. Students will be able to apply what they have learned in their own workplaces in ongoing projects.
