Project description

The Prima Botnia project aims to improve the accessibility and quality of social and healthcare services in the Ostrobothnia region of Finland.  The project focuses on addressing the backlog in healthcare services caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and enhancing services for vulnerable groups.

Goals

  • Enhancing Service Access: Improve the availability of social and healthcare services, particularly for young people, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Implementing Digital Solutions: Increase the use of digital services and remote consultations to achieve the goal that 35% of all social and healthcare interactions will be conducted electronically by the end of 2025.
  • Early Intervention and Prevention: Develop models for early intervention and preventive measures to improve the implementation of care guarantees.
  • Support for Special Groups: Provide targeted support for young people with mental health and substance abuse issues, caregivers, individuals with neuropsychiatric disorders, and partially able-bodied individuals to enhance their employment opportunities.

Results

The expected outcomes of the project include significant improvements in social and healthcare services in Ostrobothnia. Key results include:

  • Increased Service Availability: Improved access to services for young people, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Digital Leap: Enhanced efficiency and accessibility through the introduction of digital services and remote consultations.
  • Early Intervention: Early identification and treatment of health issues through developed models.
  • Employment Support: Expansion of the IPS model and Employment Capability Program to support partially able-bodied individuals and those with mental health issues in finding and maintaining employment.
