Project description
The project aims to develop operational models for the guidance, competence assessment, and supplementary training for nurses who have obtained their degrees outside the EU/EEA and are seeking the right to practice their profession in Finland. The project will create a nationwide operational framework that standardizes practices, increases opportunities for demonstrating and developing competence, and facilitates the transition of foreign nurses into roles corresponding to their qualifications.
Goals
The main goals of the project are:
- Develop a comprehensive operational framework for assessing, supplementing, and ensuring the competence of nurses who have obtained their degrees outside the EU/EEA.
- Develop individualized operational models considering regional and linguistic perspectives and needs.
- Enhance awareness of qualification opportunities, reach a broader target audience, and support individuals in progressing through the qualification process.
- Promote the possibilities for competence supplementation in the workforce, facilitate the transition of the target group into jobs corresponding to their qualifications, and support employers in acquiring qualified employees for the healthcare sector.
- Establish a nationally comprehensive and standardized operational model that can be institutionalized
Results
Expected outcomes of the project include:
- A comprehensive operational framework for nurse qualification, enabling consistent and standardized assessment, supplementation, and validation of competence across various universities of applied sciences.
- Increased availability of opportunities for competence supplementation related to nurse qualification.
- Greater awareness among the target group and employers about qualification opportunities.
- A higher number of foreign-trained nurses entering the qualification process.
- Closer and more efficient cooperation between universities of applied sciences and the labor market in the qualification of nurses.
These models, learning materials, and other resources will be published in the Open Learning Materials Library and other defined platforms, making them accessible to all universities of applied sciences. The project will involve 20 universities offering nurse training and will actively communicate its developments and results through various channels to ensure broad utilization and impact.
