VAMK participates in a global campaign to promote sustainable development goals

Vaasa University of Applied Sciences participates in a global flag campaign in honor of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) anniversary. Through this campaign, VAMK aims to emphasise its commitment to responsibility and the principles of sustainable development, which are based on ecological, economic, and social goals.

Today, on September 25th, the anniversary of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is being celebrated. Vaasa University of Applied Sciences is taking part in the global flag campaign alongside thousands of other organisations to demonstrate their support for the UN’s sustainability goals. These 17 goals, along with the Agenda 2030 action plan, guide the global effort for sustainable development from 2016 to 2030.

Responsibility means taking actions that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to live sustainably and responsibly. Responsibility is built on three key elements: ecology, economy, and social and cultural responsibility.
At VAMK, responsibility and sustainable development are at the heart of operational growth and improvement, focusing on current needs while also considering the future.

“This year, VAMK we have sought to highlight national sustainability goals and select key objectives that align with our own operations. Both the national goals and our own are aimed at ensuring well-being for all and creating a better world for everyone. This requires actions in environmental, economic, and social responsibility,” says Quality and Responsibility Manager Katja Lakojoki-Karhu.
